History
When the Dutch conquered Curacao from the Spaniards in 1634, the lagoon west of the Caracas Bay was one of the main salt lakes on the island. At the end of the 17th century, the Damasco plantation was founded and became one of the most important salt plantations on the island. The first known owner of the plantation was the Dutch skipper Jan Thielen (…, -1737). To this day, the official name is Plantage Damasco, aka Jan Thiel.

The estate, including the manor house, was completely restored by the current owner from 1997 to 2001 under the watchful eye of Monument Care.

The country house also offers a spacious office, where you can work or meet without disturbance, if necessary. This space is air-conditioned.

The estate consists of various accommodations, Het manor, Het Koetshuis, Rita's house and Het Kunukuhuis.
